Can Solar Power Help Save the Family Farm?

What if the same piece of land could grow food AND generate clean energy? That’s the fascinating question at the heart of this special evening at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

The documentary, Save the Farm, Save the Future takes us into the world of agrivoltaics—the innovative practice of combining agriculture and solar energy on the same land.

The film follows Colorado farmers and ranchers as they navigate some very real challenges: drought, extreme weather, rising costs, development pressures and labor shortages. Along the way, we’ll meet people experimenting with ways to keep working farms viable while also producing renewable energy.

And there’s a great Colorado connection. Following the film, Byron Kominek, founder of Jack’s Solar Garden, will join for a Q&A about how solar panels and agriculture can work together—and what this could mean for the future of farming in Colorado and beyond.
