The Who’s TOMMY: The Rock Opera That Changed Everything

Saturday, October 17th · 6:45pm

Catch the "Pinball Wizard" in this Limited Denver Engagement!

2ndSummit is adding this Saturday night event at the Buell Theatre to experience The Who’s Tommy… the legendary rock opera originally created by Pete Townshend and The Who in 1969.

Tommy began as a radical idea: tell an entire story through rock music. Townshend imagined a boy who loses his ability to hear, speak, and see after a traumatic experience, then discovers an extraordinary talent for pinball.

The Who spent roughly six months recording the rock opera, unsure whether audiences would understand it. Then came “Pinball Wizard.” Released ahead of the album, the hit single captured the world’s attention. Months later, The Who performed Tommy at Woodstock, cementing its place in rock history.

Tommy went on to become a movie, a Broadway musical, and numerous stage productions. Now it’s coming to the Buell in a fresh reinvention combining myth and spectacle with the unforgettable anthems “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me,” “Sensation,” and “Pinball Wizard.”

We invite 2ndSummit members to meet beforehand near the concessions in the Buell lobby for conversation and a quick drink before the curtain rises!
