A Peek Behind the DCPA Curtains!

Back by popular demand!

2ndSummit members raved about the tour in July, so we're scheduling another special behind-the-scenes tour of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, where the magic of live theater comes to life. You'll explore areas the public rarely gets to see—from costume and prop shops to scenic construction studios and backstage spaces where Broadway-caliber productions are created.

Along the way, you'll discover fascinating stories about the history of the Arts Complex, peek into Actor's Alley with its signed Broadway posters, and learn how talented artisans, designers, carpenters, painters, and technicians transform scripts into unforgettable performances. Depending on production schedules, you may even catch a glimpse of sets and costumes in progress.

This is a rare opportunity to experience one of Denver's cultural treasures from an entirely new perspective. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as this tour will keep you busy walking for up to 2 hours.

Loved the tour.  The tour guide was great and very knowledgeable!  There’s nothing I can think of to improve.

Interesting tour to see the theaters and all the spaces to make the non-traveling productions happen (wardrobe, wood & paint shop, set and lighting design, etc.).  And we learned the history of the DCPA and all the theaters.

Our guide, Rodger, is awesome. He is knowledgeable, experienced, knows his theater history, capable of keeping stragglers gathered, in line and in a friendly manner. ????it was fabulous seeing the inner workings of the whole complex except the theater that is under construction so we will return. It’s astonishing, what goes into creating a single production. We will be back with young grandsons in tow. They are involved in Crested Butte’s community theater. Thank you for a top notch educational experience.

It was a very interesting and informative tour. I enjoyed learning about the designing of the sets from architectural drawings to scale models and beyond. The costume room was also a highlight. Highly recommend!

One of the best tours I’ve ever taken! The volunteer guide, Rodger has been doing them for 20 years and he’s excellent.

Great event choice.

Suggestions:
Name tags would have been nice.

Info on parking options would have been nice. The DCPA garage charges $18 for two hours. So I parked at a meter for $4 but had to leave the tour a little early.
