Experience one of summer's most magical evenings beneath the glow of the Sturgeon Moon. Join professional naturalists from the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District for a guided hike through RidgeGate's beautiful bluffs in Lone Tree, where you'll discover local wildlife, native plants, and the fascinating ecosystems that make this open space so special.

As the sun sets over the Front Range, you'll make way to a scenic overlook just in time to watch the full Sturgeon Moon rise above the horizon. Named by Native American tribes for the time of year when giant lake sturgeon were most plentiful, the Sturgeon Moon has long symbolized late summer's abundance and the changing of the seasons. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the landscape, the wildlife that becomes active at dusk, and the natural wonders surrounding us.

Meet at the parking lot on the south end of the baseball fields at Prairie Sky Park, on the north side of Crossington Way. You'll walk with the group to the Willow Spring Trail. Expect a moderate to a briefly steep incline with little to no shade and a path that doesn’t accommodate strollers well. Come dressed for the weather.
