Colorado Hummingbird Sanctuary Meetup

Join other bird lovers at this special hummingbird sanctuary!

Experience the joy of hummingbirds zipping, hovering, and feeding all around you, with private access to an observation deck and 2-miles of Colorado nature trails! Observe the three different species of hummingbirds that visit the sanctuary, darting through the trees, hovering near guests, and feeding throughout the property. Many visitors describe the experience as magical, calming, and unlike anything they’ve experienced. Along with being a memorable gathering with new 2nd Summit friends, it's also a great opportunity for photographers and nature lovers!

Unlike a zoo or public garden, this is a private, lived-in sanctuary where the birds have become comfortable around people through consistent, respectful interaction and habitat stewardship. CHS is a certified wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation.

I really enjoyed the outing, and was inspired by Emily’s enthusiasm and passion for the hummingbirds and her commitment to making it a meaningful experience for all who come.  I had imagined the sanctuary would have areas where we might see hummingbirds feeding at different flowers; even though we only saw them from the deck feeding from bird feeders, seeing so many hummingbirds from up close was quite amazing.  $70 did seem quite pricey, although I’m also glad to support the sanctuary!

I’m excited about 2nd summit and how you all come up with such innovative ideas for our outings!  THANKS!

It was a really wonderful, unique experience that I likely wouldn’t have found if it hadn’t been offered through this organization. The organizer was very communicative and enthusiastic and helpful. The sanctuary owner Emily was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about and protective of the hummingbirds that they care for.

The temperature is generally 10 degrees cooler at least compared to the city so wearing layers is always a good idea! Bring a hat and sunglasses, and hiking shoes if you want to also enjoy the nature trails. The sanctuary provides ponchos in case of rain. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: A 2nd Summit ambassador will coordinate a possible caravan or carpool for the 6-8 members who sign up!
