History for the Curious: Cultural Threads of the San Luis Valley

Learn about the cultural landscape of the San Luis Valley, notably shaped by native villages like those near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is defined by unique customs and arts.

Part of the Rosenbery Lecture Series. Professor Enrique Lamadrid will discuss the centuries-old Indio-Hispano musical traditions of the San Luis Valley as highlighted in the book “Hilos Culturales: Cultural Threads of the San Luis Valley.” These cultural arts of the San Luis Valley have roots that span the history of the Americas and beyond, taking on their own local characteristics in every region. A book signing will follow the talk. NOTE:  There are two available times for this lecture:  1:00pm and 7:00pm
