Meet Author Colson Whitehead - The One Book One Denver Author Talk 9/25/26

Join Denver Public Library for the culminating event of the 2026 One Book One Denver season: a special evening with acclaimed author Colson Whitehead.

Over the course of the summer, readers throughout Denver have come together around Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize – winning novel The Nickel Boys. This finale offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from the author about the creation of the novel, the real history that inspired it, and the enduring resonance of Elwood and Turner’s story. Whitehead will reflect on the ideas at the heart of the novel, including friendship, memory, justice, survival, and the stories a country chooses to preserve or forget. 

The evening will bring Denver’s citywide conversation about The Nickel Boys to a close while inviting audiences to consider why the novel continues to matter today.

This is one of three conversations focused on One Book One Denver. Look for the postings for the screening of The Nickel Boys on September 2nd and a conversation with the director, RaMell Ross, on September 10th.
