Nocturne Jazz & Supper Club hosts a tribute to Joe Henderson, led by drummer and composer Zach Howarth. His quartet devotes the evening to Henderson’s influential 1964 Blue Note album Inner Urge.
Expect the playful angles of “Isotope,” the haunting, Latin-tinged mood of “El Barrio,” and the gentle lyricism of “Black Narcissus,” all heard through this group’s contemporary sound. It’s an easy way to spend a Sunday — good music, unhurried conversation, and a deep dive into one recording that still shapes how players think about jazz.
Based in the Denver/Boulder area, Zach Howarth is a percussionist, composer, and educator with a growing presence in both jazz and contemporary improvisational music.
