Could you be the ambassador for ted & tedx events?
An ambassador is the friendly face at the door: there a quarter of an hour early, greeting people by name where they can, making sure nobody stands on their own. It's low-key, and ambassadors get perks along the way, including a discount on Plus membership.

Lectures and speaker series can be a low-key way to stretch your mind, hear new perspectives, and meet people who like to think out loud together. No homework, no pressure to have all the answers — just time set aside for ideas.
At 2nd Summit, we look for talks that are well-curated and welcoming, whether it’s an author visit at a bookstore, a university lecture open to the public, or a small local forum. You choose what sparks your curiosity, then stay for the conversation before or after.
We’re starting to shape this category in the Denver Metro area, with an eye toward gatherings that feel more like an evening with thoughtful company than a formal classroom.
Hear writers share the stories behind their books — ideal if you enjoy reading, ideas, and relaxed Q&A without needing to be a “superfan.”
Campus talks by professors and visiting experts — great if you miss the feel of a good class but want to drop in on your own terms.
Talks that bring past places and people to life — perfect for curious minds who love context, maps, and a good "how did we get here" story.
Moderated conversations with multiple voices — for those who like to hear different angles and think things through with others.
Civil, issues-focused forums on policy and community life — suited to people who value respectful discussion more than scoring points.
Accessible talks on how science and tech shape daily life — ideal if you’re curious but don’t want heavy jargon or a technical deep dive.
Curated short talks on big ideas — a good fit if you enjoy bite-size inspiration and a variety of topics in one well-planned program.
A new chapter in life often comes with more space in your calendar — and sometimes, less structure for your mind. Lectures and speaker series offer a simple way to keep learning without committing to a course or program.
Choosing a talk topic is like choosing a walking route for your brain. One evening might take you deep into local history; the next, into science, public affairs, or a favorite author’s process. Over time, that steady rhythm of curiosity can bring a real sense of momentum to your weeks.
The talk itself is only half the experience. The person you sit next to, the question someone asks from the back row, the chat in the lobby afterward — that’s where ideas start to connect with real life.
2nd Summit looks for events where there’s room for conversation: informal Q&A, time to linger after, or a natural spot nearby to keep talking. You can simply listen, or ease into small conversations as it feels comfortable.
Not every gathering has to be active or social from the first moment. Lectures and speaker series are welcoming for introverts, deep thinkers, and anyone easing back into group settings.
You can show up solo, take a seat, and engage at your own pace — whether that means taking notes, just absorbing, or asking the one question that’s been on your mind. There’s no performance, no expectation to speak up, and no need to prepare in advance.
In a next chapter, big decisions and subtle shifts often sit in the background — where to live, how to spend time, what to care about most. Thoughtful talks can give language and context to those questions.
Hearing from historians, scientists, authors, and community leaders won’t hand you a ready-made plan, but it can shape how you see possibilities. Over time, that can make the path ahead feel more intentional and less like something happening to you.
Have an idea of your own?
Something you love that you'd like to share with people — a walk you know, a table you'd set, a thing you'd teach. Tell us and we'll talk it through.
Most public talks we look for are designed for curious adults, not specialists or students. You won’t be quizzed or put on the spot, and you’re not expected to arrive with background knowledge. You can simply listen, take in what interests you, and leave the rest.
No preparation is expected. Author talks and lectures are usually framed so newcomers can follow along easily. If you have read or watched something in advance, that can enrich the experience, but it’s never a requirement to participate.
Coming solo works very well for this kind of event. You can arrive, find a seat, and settle in without needing to coordinate with anyone. If you’d like company or conversation, 2nd Summit helps you spot fellow members at the same event so it’s easy to say hello when it feels right.
Most lectures and speaker events we favor are smart-casual and comfortable. Think what you’d wear to meet a friend for coffee or an early dinner. If a venue has a specific dress expectation, we’ll share that in the event details so there are no surprises.
Costs vary by venue — some university or community talks are free, while author events and larger series may charge a modest ticket fee. When we feature an event, we’ll clearly note whether there is a cost, how tickets work, and any options like member discounts or free registration.
2nd Summit doesn’t run every talk ourselves; we curate existing public lectures and series that fit our Move, Discover, Connect pillars. When you join an event through us, you’re part of a small, like-minded group attending together, with clear guidance on where to go, what to expect, and how to spot fellow 2nd Summit members.
