Could you be the ambassador for spoken word & storytelling?
An ambassador is the friendly face at the door: there a quarter of an hour early, greeting people by name where they can, making sure nobody stands on their own. It's low-key, and ambassadors get perks along the way, including a discount on Plus membership.

We're still finding the right performing arts to bring you.
Browse everythingThe performing arts have a way of waking something up in us — a line that lingers, a scene that feels a little too familiar, a shared laugh in a darkened room. When life shifts into a new chapter, it can be easy to drift away from that kind of spark.
2nd Summit curates performing arts experiences that are easy to step into and rich in conversation afterward — from films and theater to comedy, dance, and more. We look for events that welcome curious adults, keep things approachable, and make it simple to stay for a drink, a walk, or a chat when the curtain comes down.
We’re just beginning to shape this category in the Denver Metro area, with an eye toward relaxed, well-hosted outings where you can enjoy the show and connect with people who are also exploring what’s next.
Thoughtful non-fiction films for people who like real stories, big questions, and conversations that continue after the credits.
Scripted performances and musical productions for anyone who enjoys live stories, strong characters, and a night that feels a bit special.
Low-pressure nights of stand-up or improv for people who want relaxed laughter, clever humor, and an easy way to meet others.
From ballet to contemporary dance, ideal if you enjoy movement, music, and seeing stories told without a single spoken word.
Curated films or small cinema gatherings for movie lovers who appreciate thoughtful picks and space to swap reactions afterward.
Live readings, stories, and poetry for people who love language, personal narratives, and listening closely in an intimate setting.
Casual evenings where anyone can share music, stories, or poems — great for both first-time performers and supportive listeners.
Plays, films, and live storytelling give us language and images for the parts of life that are hard to name. When routines change — kids moved out, work looks different, or you’re simply asking what comes next — it helps to see those questions reflected on stage and screen.
Watching characters wrestle with choices, loss, joy, and second chances can gently unlock your own reflections. You’re not being lectured or given a checklist; you’re invited to notice what resonates and carry that insight into your own week.
The performing arts ask you to pay attention — to dialogue, lighting, movement, silence — but they don’t demand prior knowledge or perfect focus. You simply show up and allow yourself to be pulled in.
That kind of active watching is a subtle workout for your mind. You follow plots, catch details, and connect dots, all while relaxing into a shared experience that feels more engaging than another night of streaming at home.
Talking to new people can feel awkward when you’re starting from small talk. A performance gives everyone a shared reference point — a scene that surprised you, a joke that landed, a moment that fell flat.
2nd Summit looks for performing arts experiences that naturally lend themselves to conversation before and after the show. You don’t need to be a critic; having a simple reaction is more than enough to open up real, relaxed dialogue.
The performing arts offer a wide range of experiences — from quiet storytelling evenings to high-energy comedy. In this chapter of life, it’s less about checking boxes and more about choosing what truly fits how you want to spend your time.
We focus on events that are welcoming, not overwhelming: comfortable venues, sensible timing, and room to leave early or linger longer, depending on what you need that night.
Have an idea of your own?
Something you love that you'd like to share with people — a walk you know, a table you'd set, a thing you'd teach. Tell us and we'll talk it through.
You’re not alone — many people in our community are reconnecting with the performing arts after a long break, or trying them for the first time. We look for events that feel welcoming to curious adults, not insider-only scenes. You can simply show up, take it in, and engage as much or as little as you’d like.
No background is required. Our focus is on experiences that are accessible and engaging on their own terms, whether or not you know the terminology or history. If there’s context that might be helpful, we’ll share it in a simple, down-to-earth way beforehand.
Costs can vary depending on the venue and type of performance, from free community events to ticketed shows at established theaters or cinemas. When we highlight a specific outing, we’ll link directly to the host’s pricing and make any extra costs, like parking or optional refreshments, as clear as we can.
Absolutely. Many 2nd Summit participants arrive solo, especially for performing arts events. Our goal is to make it easy to find a seat, say hello to a few familiar faces over time, and join conversation before or after the show if you’re in the mood — or simply enjoy the performance quietly if that’s what feels right.
Most outings in this category are relaxed — comfortable, neat clothing is usually perfect. It can be helpful to bring a light layer, since theaters and cinemas sometimes run cool, and to have any essentials you like for a night out, such as glasses for reading programs. If a specific event has particular guidelines, we’ll point you to those details.
We’re in the process of identifying the right partners and performances in the Denver Metro area. As this category develops, we’ll share handpicked outings rather than long lists, focusing on quality and fit. If you’re interested, you can keep an eye out for updates and join when something aligns with your interests and schedule.
