Here is everything else in water sports & swimming. If kayaking & canoeing is your thing, you could be the one who starts it.
Could you be the ambassador for kayaking & canoeing?
An ambassador is the friendly face at the door: there a quarter of an hour early, greeting people by name where they can, making sure nobody stands on their own. It's low-key, and ambassadors get perks along the way, including a discount on Plus membership.

Browse everythingWater has a way of clearing the mind and waking up the body — whether you’re gliding across a lake or easing into a quiet lap lane. In this next chapter, you might be ready to return to the water or try it for the very first time.
2nd Summit curates approachable water activities in the Denver Metro area that focus on comfort, safety, and simple enjoyment — not competition or performance. As this category grows, we’ll prioritize small-group experiences, patient instruction, and plenty of space to go at your own pace.
You can expect options that range from calm and meditative to gently adventurous, all designed to help you stay active, curious, and connected around the water.

Why water sports & swimming matters
Gentle on the body, energizing for the day
Water supports your weight, which means joints and muscles get a break while you’re still moving with purpose. For many people in a new life chapter, that combination — less impact, more motion — makes it easier to stay consistent.
From a quiet lap lane to a relaxed paddle, water activities can leave you pleasantly tired instead of wiped out. That steady effort builds strength and stamina over time, without the pressure of “keeping up” with anyone else.
A different kind of mental reset
Being on or in the water narrows your focus in a helpful way. You’re paying attention to your stroke, your balance, the feel of the current or the pattern of your cast — everyday noise tends to fade into the background.
That gentle concentration can feel like a moving meditation. Especially in a season of transition, having a simple, repeatable way to clear your head can make it easier to navigate everything else that’s changing.
Shared experiences without small-talk pressure
Water activities offer natural conversation starters — the view from the boat, the morning’s conditions, the route you just swam or paddled. You don’t have to invent topics; they’re all around you.
Because everyone is focused on the shared experience, connections tend to grow gradually and comfortably. It’s a good fit if you’d like to meet people, but you’re not interested in forced mingling or name-tag networking.
Room to try something new, on your terms
Many adults have a long history with water — some positive, some mixed, some with big gaps in between. 2nd Summit looks for instructors and programs that respect that range and make it easy to start where you are.
We focus on clear briefings, patient guidance, and the option to dial the challenge up or down. Whether you’re dipping a toe into open water or revisiting a lane you haven’t seen in years, the experience should feel inviting, not intimidating.

Good to know
I’m not very fit right now. Are these water activities still for me?
Most water options we look for are designed to be scaled — you can go shorter, slower, or take breaks as needed. Some, like whitewater rafting or open water swimming, may call for a bit more baseline comfort in and around water. Each specific gathering will spell out the expected effort level so you can choose what feels right.
Do I need to know how to swim to participate?
For pool-based swimming and open water sessions, basic swimming ability is important. For activities like rafting, fly fishing, or some paddle outings, strong swimming is helpful but not always required, as personal flotation and guides add support. We’ll always be clear about swimming expectations and safety requirements for each experience.
What should I bring to a 2nd Summit water activity?
Generally you’ll want comfortable quick-drying clothing or a swimsuit, a towel, sun protection, and a water bottle. Technical gear — boats, boards, paddles, life vests — is often provided or available to rent, and we’ll note that ahead of time. Any special items, like sandals that can get wet or extra layers, will be listed in the event details.
Is it okay to come alone, or do people usually come with a partner?
Coming solo is very common, and events are designed with that in mind. Small groups, introductions, and shared instruction make it easy to feel part of things without being put on the spot. If you do bring a partner or friend, they’ll be welcomed the same way — as part of a low-pressure, shared experience.
What can I expect to pay for water sports and swimming activities?
Costs vary depending on factors like instruction, gear, permits, and transportation. A simple group swim might be close to a standard pool drop-in fee, while guided river days or clinics with equipment can be higher. Whenever 2nd Summit lists a specific gathering, we’ll outline pricing clearly so you can decide what fits your budget.
How will 2nd Summit choose and host water activities in Denver Metro?
We look for partners, pools, and outfitters that prioritize safety, clear communication, and a welcoming tone for adults in their next chapter. As this category develops, you’ll see carefully selected options rather than a long list — each one chosen for quality of instruction, group size, and how well it supports moving, learning, and connecting around the water.
